Do we need an excuse to celebrate and be happy?

Many people, especially among the poor, have never been fortunate enough to celebrate any occasion in their lives yet they are no different from the rest of the world who indulge in crass life-style rampantly. When you are contented within you do not need excuses to celebrate. In reality, the fact that you have been given this opportunity to come to Earth to work out your karmas for the sake of purifying and perfecting your soul is reason enough for celebration. Appreciate every moment of your life. Look upon each new day as a blessing of God, and this in itself is a joyous occasion. Every moment of the NOW that is peace-filled is special and divine. So, celebrate it with gladness and devotion. You do not need to wait for those special days marked in red on your calendar or for some anniversary of some past auspicious event in your life to celebrate your present; these are all superfluous festivities, and hold no meaning from the spiritual point of view. These are transient and the feeling of cheer that these evoke in your heart fades away with the passing of the day, and you are back to your old disgruntled self once again.

The dawning of each day is the birth of a new day; this makes each day very special in your life. Every new day brings with it newer opportunities and situations in your life that are designed to further your spiritual progress. Life can never be more joyous and exciting when your heart is throbbing with the desire to face new challenges with hopes for an enriching life. Your optimism towards life makes every moment of every day an event for felicitation. You can never be bored with life when you are vibrating with the spirit of enthusiasm. Unwrap each new day with love and tenderness, and discover the gifts that the Universe so carefully packs up for you. When the day ends there is always another day ahead of you to celebrate and make merry. With that, you need never wait for some special day in your calendar to celebrate and be happy. You are free to live free and happy; do not confine yourself to the conditions set by the world where people are supposed to come alive only on festive days while the rest of the days are spent in leading mechanical, humdrum lives. You are special, which means that each day that you greet is very special for you. Therefore, sanctify each blessed day with good thoughts, speech and action along with loads of positive attitude.
