Do Ghosts Exists?

What are ghosts? There is so much of mystery, ignorance and controversy involving the subject of ghosts amongst the common man that it is time to illumine him on this topic. First, let us examine what is man. Now that we have seen in our previous article that man is not his body, but is covered with sheaths of bodies vibrating at different rates, it somehow clears up the mystery of “ghosts”. Knowledge brings with it wisdom and understanding instead of fears and superstitions.

The ghosts or apparitions that people sometimes see, are the astral projections of the person who may have died and are still hovering about the Earth plane or perhaps it could simply be the etheric shell of a newly buried person; yet, it could be the astral body of a living person haunting in his sleep the tomb of his departed friend or loved one. The difference is perceptible to those who are accustomed to using astral vision, but to the common person they all appear as “ghosts”. You will be surprised to know that every human being is a ghost when he sleeps at night and travels to astral planes leaving his body and the etheric double behind.

The Earth plane is teeming with the earth-bound souls. If one had the astral vision one would be seeing them everywhere. The reasons are varied.

1. It could be that the individual has not registered the reality of his passing over or that he simply chooses to deny that he is “dead,” and with that he continues to hover around the physical planes trying desperately to get on with his material life.

2. The attachment to the material world is too great for the soul to sever these ties and move on to higher realms. His cravings and lusty desires will have a strong hold on him, and thus prevent him from progressing.

3. The misinformation and wrong beliefs about death while he was living could have a devastating effect in his after-life. Many people are under the false opinion that death is nothingness, and that when you die you dissipate into thin air. This causes greater confusion when they find themselves still alive and in full consciousness, after they have discarded their physical garment; they refuse to believe that they are dead and make desperate attempts to resume connections with the material world and their loved ones. Their frenzied but futile efforts to be amongst the living on Earth torment them – they are miserable and lonely souls who create hell for themselves on the other side because of such erroneous beliefs that they adhere to.

“Ghosts” appear misty and can move through walls and doors. All this strange phenomena create fear and awe among the human beings. However, if you study the constitution of the astral body you will notice that it is lighter than the physical body and thus not limited in its movements. The astral body does not depend on the sense organs to see, feel, hear and touch. The pattern of the atoms and molecules and cells of any material object or body is different from that of the astral counterpart. You think that a wall or a table for instance, is real and solid to touch but if seen with the astral vision, it is a floating mass where the atoms and molecules are in constant movement with each other and far from being solid. The material objects appear solid to touch to the material body and not to the astral. Similarly, the things in the astral world are very solid and concrete to the spirit entities but not to any human being. This explains why ghosts and spirits can move about so freely through any physical object; doors and walls are no barriers for them.

This should remove some of your fears of your astral visitors, if you do chance to encounter them. Ghosts are not necessarily evil entities; they are often the confused and tormented souls, who need help and guidance. They are people like you and me, but without the physical body. The earth-bound souls often seek refuge in lonely places and houses that lie empty for years; they make this their home. It disturbs them greatly if someone or a family chooses to move in. They will protest violently against the new occupant and do everything in their power to drive him away. These lost spirits need your help; they are trapped on the earth plane due to their own ignorance on the concepts of life after death. Fear of the unknown keeps them bound on the earth plane; it gives them great comfort to be in an environment that is familiar to them.

Pray for them and show them the light. You can help clear the obscurity of their minds by showing them that there are far greater and fairer worlds than this Earth, impress upon them that their real home is in the spiritual realms of light and love, where his loved ones await him, and that it is a place of hope and joy – a place where he can progress and fulfill all his dreams. The right thing to do would be to pray for them that they may go into the Light and be at peace. The energy of prayer helps bring great solace to the tormented souls; it makes them happy that someone cares for them, and that he is not looked upon as some fearsome evil entity. After all, they are still human at heart and mind, and like to be treated with a bit more love and compassion by their earthly brothers.
