Let
us analyse what stress is, and what causes it. Stress is the offspring of fear.
You cannot rationalize fears because they are inevitably a figment of
imagination of an imbalanced mindset. All fears are based on some past event or
situation where a subject had experienced great mental trauma. These have
nothing to do with the present situations in life; yet, the memory of the
experience, which is not released, continues to traumatise the person from the
deeper levels of his consciousness. This is why so many fears that people have,
are unaccounted for; the person sees no reason to fear in relationship with his
present moment in time. The fact that he knows not where his fears come from is
even more confusing and traumatising for him. In desperation he hooks himself
up to medication that his doctors and psychiatrists prescribe indiscriminately.
Your
fears may include ordinary activities such as walking down the road or in
crossing a busy road; it could be in travelling in closed elevators or being
alone at night, or in meeting people or just about anything. Your perception of
looking at things determines whether something is stressful or not. When you
fail to look at a situation with a calm and logical mind, any ordinary
situation will appear monstrous and intimidating to you. Your stress level thus
rises up, which could well lead to panic attacks. Fears must be dealt with a
firm mind or else it can wreck you.
The
solution to leading a stress-free life is to look at the situation squarely in
the eye, and examine it thoroughly with a calm composure from all angles. Do
not be in a hurry to draw any conclusions or to take any impulsive action. Feel
it; be with it mentally and emotionally until you familiarise yourself with it.
All the while radiate positive thoughts to it. Soothe and comfort the child in
you that is overcome with fright, that it is alright; that there is nothing to
be afraid of; there are no monsters in hiding waiting to pounce on you. It is
important to befriend your adversities before they get out of control. As you
approach your fears with a positive attitude, you will realize that there
really is nothing to be afraid of. You will see that the problem just needs to
be solved with the quietude of your mind. Then, once it is dealt with, it is
gone. Do not cling to any unfavourable situations in your life because this is
how you build up fears. Allow them to go in peace. Feel the peace, joy and the respite when you are rid of your
difficulties. Send forth a prayer of gratitude to the One above for helping you
in your hour of need. Refrain from complaining and being embittered by your
situations. Disgruntlement and resentment will only strengthen the negative
energy so that you draw more problems and hardships into your life.
In case
of some outrageous event where you are provoked to much anger and resentment,
the ideal thing would be to allow yourself to cool down before making a hasty
move. Any decision or action taken while you are possessed by incensed rage
will turn out to be disastrous for you, and for which you may have to sorely
repent. Therefore, even when angry, be aware of the consequences of being
impulsive; be aware of your present state of mind. Your awareness will help you
to maintain your balance, and prevent you from acting out of sheer lunacy, thus
saving you from further heartbreaks in life. Moreover, you will be pleasantly
surprised by the solutions that will emerge from a positive mindset; they work
like magic to restore peace and love in your life.
