One
New Year after another has been ushered in for centuries all over the world
with great cheer and merriment until the wee hours of the morning. Yet, each
year passes off just the same as the previous years, to be merged into the
fading past and all is forgotten. All the crass merry-making and revelry is
superficial; people simply need an excuse to let go of their principles and go
wild.
The
ideal way to celebrate the New Year would be to spend the final hour of the New
Year’s eve in quiet meditation, retrospecting on how you spent your past year,
and what changes you would like to bring about in order to improve the standard
of your life in the coming year. Welcome the new dawn with prayer and mantras.
Pray for Mother Earth and for all life thereon. What better way to usher in the
New Year than by sending out blessings and positive thoughts to all. Dancing
and drinking the night away does not help to bring in good times. Such acts of
coarse gaiety only helps towards increasing the power of the negative forces
that seek to destroy man.
Year
after year, the mistakes are repeated. People have become smug about living unscrupulously
– it has become a way of life with most people. No effort is being made towards
personal improvement leave alone improving things at the social of global
levels. Resolutions are made only to be broken the next day. While the years
keep slipping by, the mind of man is still trapped in some dark haunts of his
past so that he is ever operating from the depths of his old consciousness
where harbours
his embittered feelings and emotions. Many nations are caught in the endless
struggle of revenge and anger against each other, neither willing to let go
without teaching the other a lesson. The warring countries are locked in eternal
battle with each other with no respite whatsoever. Man is moving in time but
not in spirit. Spiritually he is stunted, and that is really nothing to
celebrate about.
